Apple A12 Processor Performance Test

Unlike in previous years, Apple brought three iPhone products at this year’s autumn product launch – iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. Although these three products correspond to different price segments, their hardware configuration has no essence. The difference, and the performance of the A12 processor, is still the best processor for mobile phones.

Now, the media released the GeekBench 4 multi-core running score of the A12 processor, in contrast to the A11 and the Opteron 845. The result is obvious. The iPhone XS Max with the A12 processor topped the list with 11515. The A11 processor’s iPhone X is 10357, ranking second; Snapdragon 845, the media brought a plus 6, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Samsung Galaxy S9 + and LG G7 ThinQ as a comparison, one plus 6 multi-core performance is best , reached 9088 points, the worst is the Samsung Galaxy S9+, multi-core score is only 8295 points.

In addition to GeekBench 4, the media also tested the video editing capabilities of the above models (using Adobe Premiere Clips to transcode 2 minutes of 4K video to 1080P)

The results show that iPhone XS Max and iPhone XS perform best, only 39 seconds; iPhone X followed with 43 seconds; the overall performance of the Android camp is not good, the fastest is about 2 minutes and a half.

As Apple’s latest mobile processor, the A12 chip adopts a six-core architecture and is built on a 7nm process. Two of the performance cores are 15% faster than the previous generation, and the power consumption is reduced by 40%. The four energy-efficient cores consume the most power. Can be reduced by 50%, graphics processing capacity is 50% higher than A11, performance is very strong.
