iPhone 11 Pro charging evaluation: Is it necessary to replace the original charger?

For users who prefer small-size phones, the iPhone 11 Pro is a very good choice. It has the smallest body size of the three machines, the grip is comfortable, and the hardware and functions are all the same as the 11 Pro Max.

However, the battery of the iPhone 11 Pro is also the smallest of the three models, and the battery life will be relatively poor. Fortunately, it comes with a 18W PD fast iPhone 11 charger kit.

This charger test, we chose Apple 5V/1A charging kit, iPhone 11 Pro original 18W PD fast charging kit, Apple 30W PD charging kit to compare iPhone 11 Pro, to meet the 11 Pro maximum charging power.

In addition to the USB-A to Lightning cable used by the Wufu Yi’an Group, the PD charging group requires the MFi-certified USB-C to Lightning cable.

The test shows that when the iPhone shows that the power is 100%, it has not stopped charging. It continues to charge at a low power and continues to charge until it is fully charged. The standard of the whole process of testing mobile phone charging is: full discharge to automatic shutdown until the input power of the mobile phone is reduced to below 0.1W, which is not 0%-100% of the power prompt in the mobile phone system.

The first is the traditional 5V/1A charging test. The process of charging the iPhone 11 Pro with the 5V/1A charging kit is very stable. After all, the maximum power is only 5W, and the charging voltage is only 5V. The mobile phone handshaking 5W charging at the moment of connection to the charger, which lasts until 2 hours and 45 minutes, and then enters the constant voltage phase, and the power is continuously reduced. At 3 hours and 37 minutes, the power dropped below 0.1W, and the phone is completely full.

Then the data is made into a 0-100% charging time curve. You can see that the 5V/1A charging kit charges the iPhone 11 Pro. It can only charge 17% in half an hour, only 33% in one hour, and fully filled in 3 hours. In 37 minutes, the charging speed is very slow.

Let’s put it into the 18W PD fast charge kit that comes standard with the iPhone 11 Pro for testing. iPhone to shake hands PD fast charge must wait for the phone to boot, after the power is connected, the phone first charges in Apple 2.4A mode, until 1 minute 48 seconds, the phone automatically turns on, the charging voltage rises to 9V, the power immediately climbs to about 18W And lasted for 29 minutes. After 31 minutes, the charging power began to gradually decrease, and entered the constant voltage phase at 1 hour and 12 minutes. The power continued to decrease until the power dropped to below 0.1W at 2 hours and 09 minutes, and the mobile phone was fully charged.

The iPhone 11 Pro comes standard with 18W PD fast charging, which can charge up to 48% in half an hour, 81% in one hour, and only 2 hours and 9 minutes in full. As a standard charger for mobile phones, this result is very good. 

The three new iPhones can charge more than 22W under low power conditions. Will the charging of the mobile phone be faster than the original charger with a higher power PD charger? Next continue testing with the Apple 30W PD charger. After accessing the power supply, you also need to wait for the phone to boot. When the mobile phone is automatically turned on in 3 minutes and 21 seconds, the PD protocol performs fast charging, and the charging power starts to rise slowly from 18.7W. After 22 minutes, the power began to gradually decrease. When the pressure reached the constant voltage stage at 1 hour and 8 minutes, the power continued to decrease until the power dropped to below 0.1 W at 2 hours and 7 minutes, and the mobile phone was completely charged.

The 30W PD fast charge will be faster, charging 53% for half an hour, 84% for one hour, and 2 hours and 7 minutes for full

Finally, we compare the three sets of data of this test together.

It can be seen from the charging time curve that the fast charging is added to increase the charging speed of the iPhone, and the charging efficiency of the first one hour using the PD fast charging is extremely high, and it can charge about 80% of the power. Compared with the 18W PD fast charge, the 30W PD fast charge is only 2 minutes away from the 0-100% charge. The 30W PD fast charge speed is mainly in the early stage. The 30W PD fast charge is 5% more than the 18W in the first half hour.

Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro comes standard with an 18W PD charging kit, which will undoubtedly make most Apple users experience the practicality of fast charging, which is of great significance for promoting PD fast charging.

iPhone 11 Pro fast charging power up to 22W+, using the advantage of 30W charger in the first half hour can provide more than 5% of the charge of 18W, the whole charging speed is not much different.

Here we recommend only the iPhone 11 series mobile phone. Users with original mobile phone accessories  use the built-in 18W PD charger. If you feel that the original data cable is not durable, you can replace a woven C94 data cable.
