As expected, Sony launched the new flagship phone of the peria XZ3 in 2018. So we can compare it to its predecessor XZ2.
Although the upgrade is quite limited, the launch price of the new model is the same. Here, we compare their prices, designs and specifications in detail to help you choose which one to buy.

XPERIA XZ2 and XZ3: price and availability

Sony kept the price of the XZ3 the same as its predecessor. This means it costs £699 – $899 in the US.

Since the XZ2 is now an older model, you can be cheaper – if you buy the discount directly at £649. However, if you go to Amazon, you can get a phone with a price of 539 pounds or 699 dollars.
This is a reasonable difference. If you already have XZ2, you need to consider whether it is worth upgrading, or choose which one if you don’t have XZ2.

XPERIA XZ2 and XZ3: Design and build

We have been waiting for Sony to change its design language, and XZ2 brings this, but we are a bit disappointed.
We are very happy that the XZ3 is a more popular mobile phone than the XZ2.
But the new phone has made some adjustments. That is, the phone is thinner, 9.9 mm, lower than 11.1 mm. It’s not very big on paper, but it makes a big difference when you hold them. The XZ3 is not that light, but a bigger battery is a good reason.
The main design change is the curved edge at the front, a bit like the Galaxy S9 and the previous Samsung phone. In the true Sony style, the new phone features a new color, it is still IP68 waterproof, no headphone jack. With a screen up to 18:9, the fingerprint scanner is still behind, and many of us here think the phone is too low and uncomfortable.

what is new?

So what’s changed on the spec sheet? Mainly a new screen, Sony’s first OLED panel for better color and contrast. It is bigger at 6 inches, and maintaining Quad HD resolution.

There are two significant differences between the larger 3300 mAh and the higher resolution front camera. It has a speed of 13Mp and an impressive f / 1.9 aperture.
