Three common medical masks

1. Medical masks

It is also called nursing mask, or directly called medical mask. This type of mask has a small barrier to liquid splashing and poor adhesion, and the filtration efficiency of non-oily particles has not reached the national standard KN90 standard. Therefore, such ordinary medical masks are difficult to meet the demand for virus prevention in public places.

2. Medical surgical mask

The YY 0469-2011 standard is used. This mask was originally intended for surgeons to use during surgery. Therefore, compared with ordinary masks, surgical masks have very good anti-liquid splattering ability, with a filtering effect ≥90% for particles larger than 5 μm in air.

It can be seen that surgical masks have been excellent in the ability to prevent droplets (the main vector of infection). For ordinary people who do not come into close contact with patients suspected of being infected with a new coronavirus, surgical masks can meet their daily needs.

3. Medical protective mask

The process uses KN95 of GB2626 standard (N95 for international certification), that is, the filtration efficiency of non-oily particulate matter is ≥95%. In the mask family, medical protective masks have good airtightness, can effectively filter out particles with a diameter greater than 0.3 μm in the air, and provide a high level of protection for the wearer. This level of protection is suitable for clinicians who are in close contact with patients with suspected or high-risk virus infections, and we ordinary people do not have to be overly demanding.
