Upgraded from the original old charger A1718 to the new A1947. The biggest change is that the new charger has increased the output position of 15V, the compatibility of the charger has become better, but the maximum power has not changed, it is still 61W.

1, Apple 61W charger appearance

The pin has a serial number here, which can be compared with the internal firmware number to distinguish whether the charger is genuine.

Pins are not magnetically absorbing

On the other side is a USB Type-C output interface.

The USB-Type-C output port is 24 pins.

2, Apple 61W charger test

First, compatibility testing

Using ChargerLAB POWER-Z KT001 for protocol testing, the Apple 61W charger supports the USB DC protocol. In addition, Apple 61W charger supports USB PD2.0, supports the output of 4 gears, covers 5V, 9V “low pressure gear”, 15V, 20V “high pressure gear”.

When charging the iPhone7 (46% power), the voltage is 5.12V, the current is 1.71A, and the Apple 2.4A protocol is supported. Apple devices such as the iPhone 7/7Plus can achieve a good charging speed. 

In actual tests, the iPhone X has a power of 27% and a charging power of 14.77W.

Charged MacBook Pro 2018 (65% power) power reached 46.37W

The first is the maximum output test. The four voltage levels of the charger are set in sequence. The current increases from 0A, incrementing by 0.1A each time, and the test results are similar. The maximum output current of the four output gears is 3.3A. As the current increases, the voltage gradually decreases. The maximum output of the Apple 61W charger is up to 65.1W (19.73V/3.3A), which is 4.1W larger than the nominal power.

In terms of fever, the indoor temperature is about 30 ° C and the load is kept for 10 minutes. For each output gear heating condition, the temperature is measured by the FLIR temperature tester: the maximum temperature reaches 39.4°C in the 5V gear position, the highest temperature 42.4°C in the 9V gear position, and the highest temperature in the 15V gear position. 43 ° C; 20V gear position, the highest 46.7 ° C.
