Car charger with fast charging technology is already a very mature solution. The most popular one is to support Qualcomm QC3.0 fast charging, which also provides a very fast charging solution for the majority of car owners. So, in addition to car chargers that support fast charging technology, most of the current brand mobile phone manufacturers are gradually applying fast charging technology to their own brand flagship phones. Except for the latest iPhone 7 that still does not support fast charging, the major players in the Android camp Mobile phone manufacturers have their own fast charging technology, so consumers are dazzled and do not know how to choose. Now let’s gradually take stock of the fast charging technologies of Android phones:
1. Qualcomm: Quick Charge 1.0/2.0/3.0
Qualcomm QC3.0 fast charging should be the most supported fast charging solution currently on the market, and it is also the one most recognized by consumers, from the earliest QC1.0 to QC2.0 to the current QC3.0, unconsciously Three generations of fast charging solutions are no longer available. Although there are many fast charging solutions on the market, Qualcomm QC3.0 is still very popular with consumers.
QC 1.0: Supports up to 5V/2A charging power.
QC 2.0: Compatible with 5V/9V/12V/20V four-speed charging voltage.
QC 3.0: In 200mV increments, it provides a flexible choice of voltage from 3.6V to 20V, allowing mobile phone manufacturers to adjust the optimal voltage according to their own needs to achieve the expected current, provide charging efficiency while reducing power consumption and heat generation.
2. MediaTek MTK: PumpExpress Plus
In the past few years, MTK has been overwhelmed by Qualcomm in the field of charging speed because of its fast charging technology. In the past two years, PumpExpress technology has begun to emerge. The built-in PMIC power management integrated circuit allows the charger to determine the initial voltage required for charging according to the current. The pulse current command issued by the PMIC is transmitted to the charger through the USB Vbus, and then the output voltage is adjusted according to this command, and gradually increased to 5V to promote the maximum charging current.
PumpExpress output power is <10w, pumpexpress>15W. The latest Pump Express 3.0 claims to be able to fully charge a smartphone by 70% within 20 minutes, while reducing power consumption by 50% compared to PumpExpress Plus, indirectly reducing heat. Compared with QC 3.0’s 200mV increments, PumpExpress 3.0’s voltage fine-tuning range is only 10mV, which can theoretically provide up to 5A charging current. MediaTek said Pump Express 3.0 can be implemented on Helio P20 as soon as possible.
3. Huawei FCP (Fast Charger Protocol)
As the world’s largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer, Huawei has never lagging behind in terms of technology. The FCP on the previous Huawei Mate 8 and Honor 7, the latest Honor V8 and Huawei P9 belong to Huawei’s own fast charging technology. In June this year, Huawei has launched a 10000mAh Honor power bank that also supports this technology, up to 9V/2A (18W) fast charging output power.
